Indiana is one of those states in America which is seeing much problem related to drug abuse among teens and in most cases it is related to methamphetamine. This fact is supported by the random sampling tests conducted at high schools in Indiana. The abuse of methamphetamine along with alcohol abuse has skyrocketed remarkably the years 2000 and 2001. The school authorities and state court intends to take preventive measures to put a stop on this growing problem. There are various health hazards that are observed frequently on the teenagers using methamphetamine. The best way to address this problem is conducting tests among school children randomly without any prior information. They should be provided with further support apart from expulsion from the school. It is a common fact that pressure of the peers is immensely effective among school children and this is the reason why all of them should be made aware of the perilous effects of methamphetamine. Teens also need to have access to proper treatment for meth abuse in Indiana.
A study found that almost 85% of the principals of high schools admitted that cases of methamphetamine and drug abuse have increased after the random testing was stopped. Number of expulsions has increased severely which required urgent attention. More athlete students are using methamphetamine as an energizer. Many of the students are found to carry this drug which is indeed a threatening situation. Around 294 schooling districts have supported the random sampling tests at schools. Students can be inspired to take part in these tests if they are given a chance to take part in interesting extra curricular activities in exchange. The laws related to drug usage was revised at the Indiana Court as a result of the appeals placed by Indiana Civil Liberties Union. Conscious efforts put in by the government and guardians of teenagers can reduce the methamphetamine abuse significantly and meth treatment should also be included.
