Meth, also known as chalk, speed, crystal, ice, crank or glass are all the names with which it is called in the streets.
Whatever name we call it with, the effects and symptoms of methamphetamine usage remains similar. The damage it causes to one’s life remains similar too. Large doses of methamphetamine often cause irritations, anxiety, aggressiveness, hallucinations of auditory nature and paranoia. It also creates certain psychotic behavior along with delusions. The meth abusers are violent in nature due to not sleeping for thirteen to fifteen days after meth abusing. The various frequent mood changes are very commonly seen symptoms among meth users. The effects of meth results in a hyperactive behavior, suspiciousness and great mood swings.
Meth abusers show an enhanced metabolism in the body and undergo a feeling of euphoria or a high or rush. This enhances their level of alertness and increased levels of energy. When taken in high doses or a chronic usage of meth can lead to serious irritability, paranoia, nervousness and violence. Risks from stroke and heart failure are also suspected.
Meth abuse is done at a low intensity, binge as well as at a high intensity. An user who is not psychologically attracted to meth makes a lower level of meth use. They usually swallow or snort it. However, binge and high abusers of meth are mentally attached to this drug. They smoke or even inject it for receiving a greater high. The list of amphetamines and methamphetamines continues to increase with time. This drug stimulates our central nervous system by the release of certain neurotransmitters named dopamine and norepinepbrine. At the initial stages, these drugs were prescribed as substances that helped weight loss at a considerable level. Hence, this became very popular with women. However, misuse and abuse enhanced and a higher dosage was taken for getting a high or a rush. When abused for a prolonged time period, meth can cause high addictions and is very difficult to stop. People become dependent on this powder.

• Meth – This is a very common term by simply reducing the term methamphetamine
• Crystal Meth – The drug is also formed in a crystal form and is called as crystal meth in the streets.
• Speed – Meth usage gives a feeling oh rush or high.
• Ice – Pure methamphetamine hydrochloride is called ice. It is usually smoked.
• Strawberry Meth – Since meth emits a pink color, it is quite often termed as strawberry meth.
• Crack, rock, glass, crystal – By the look and appearance of the drug, these names are given.
