Methamphetamine around the world "Pervitin" is the term utilized for methamphetamine in the Czech Republic and other regions of Eastern Europe. "Pervitin" has been in use since 1938 when Temmler pharmaceutical in Berlin began manufacturing methamphetamine and marketing it under that name. It rapidly gained popularity among the general population and the German military during World War II. Pervitin sales were prohibited in 1941, but not before tens of millions of tablets were sold. Methamphetamine continues to be sell under the brand name "Pervitin" in Eastern Europe, including in liquid form (vials) for IM and IV utilization. It is also one of the slang terms utilized for street methamphetamine (usually produced from ephedrine).
